Pros: Decreased gas bill for hot water and water bill.
Cons: Lid locks once it is on and requires stopping to open it.
The Bottom Line: This is a fine piece of engineering. The spin cycle on this is so fast that my dryer can keep up with the washer loads.

| gr8chief's Full Review: Fisher and Paykel EcoSmart GWL15 Top Load Washer |
We purchased this washer a little over a year ago at Lowes and had only one slight problem with it. It turned out to be a safety pin with lint stuck in the diverter valve (I repaired it myself). This washer is a lot easier to repair than regular top loaders since it does not have a transmission. The lack of transmission also makes it lighter to bring down to the basement!
Don't be fooled with the plastic top lid, this washer supports a family of 12 without any problems. If you buy one, read the directions. Most of the negative or low ratings on this washer come from people who do not read the directions. The washing for this machine is a cross between a front loader and a top loader.
Our gas bill for hot water has dropped, along with the water bill.
My only complaint is that you have to stop the washer if you want a soak anything over 2 hours. If you want your whites whiter, soak them overnight in detergent, then add bleach in the morning and run it through a wash cycle. Also, if you want to add anything to the wash, you have to stop the washer since the lid locks once the cycle is started.
