| brownies3web's Full Review: Fitness Quest FQ Eclipse 1000 Elliptical 1257 |
I had been looking at elliptical trainers for about a month, and found that you do get what you pay for. Of course, with my more expensive taste but limited wallet, I decided I wanted to spend no more than $500.00. The Nordic Track machines seemed nice, but were larger than I wanted, and costed over $1000. I also changed my mind after looking at a few sites online where the company had such bad customer service ratings by so many people. I was then deciding between this and the Pro Form 545S. This was on sale at MC Sporting Goods for $399 and the Pro Form was $299. I wanted pre-set programs, dual action, comfort and stability. The Fitness Quest had it all for what I wanted to spend! In addition, Fitness Quest had a 12 month warranty versus 90 days as most other companies offer.
Assembly of the machine was a cinch. All the tools, nuts and bolts come cleanly shrink-wrapped and labeled so it's a no-brainer with the instruction sheet. Even hooking up the computer was a simple click of the wire connectors.
I love riding my elliptical! I've only had it a short time but am very satisfied. I get a great cardiovascular workout, and can feel it in my butt and legs after only a couple minutes. The only con I'm finding is that when I use the dual motion and am moving my whole body instead of just a leg workout, I find that the machine rocks back and forth slightly. This is partly due to it's not as wide or heavy as some other machines, but on the other hand that's a feature I also like because I can move it myself. It also has a heart rate monitor that I like to watch my progress and lets me get competitive with myself. You put your fingers on the metal ends of the stationary handles and the LCD monitor reads your heart rate for you. It gives a good goal to reach or healthy rate to maintain.
Plus! It has wheels on the legs for even easier moving! It won't roll when you're on it, but if you pick up one end, it then goes on its wheels. Overall, I would recommend this elliptical. My husband, who weighs over 250 lbs. uses it and loves it too. It can handle above and beyond what most other machines in this price range, and some above will handle.
