| fuzzymunky4's Full Review: Fitness Quest Gazelle Edge Glide |
I own a treadmill and used it off and on for a while. When I had finally gained way too much weight I started using it almost daily for about year and lost more than 40 pounds. Well, of course, I have stopped using the treadmill for a couple months and have started to gain some weight back. I decided last week that enough is enough and I did not want to lose all of the progress that I had gained over the last year. My wife is pregnant with our son and she is due this October. We decided to add another room to our house which allowed us to free up the spare bedroom for the baby. The new room was to be used for the treadmill and we were going to store it in the closet. When I put the shelving in the new closet I realized that the treadmill was taking up so much valuable room in the closet that we could use for storage. I started looking for an alternative to the treadmill, an alternative that was more quiet, less expensive, and did not take up much room. I found the Gazelle Edge and bought it for about $85 at Wal-Mart. The first day that I used it I was not impressed. I did not work up a sweat after about 30 minutes and only burned 120 calories. So, I read more about the machine and learned that I was probably just getting used to the motion, which is sort of like skiing. Yesterday, I got on the Gazelle Edge and was able to increase my stride, which allowed me to sweat and I was able to burn 215 calories. This morning I burned 230 calories. I really like this machine because it is quiet and can be stored under a bed or in a closet, taking up much less room. The Gazelle Edge does not have a sophisticated program selection on the machine itself, but it does come with a book that describes the different ways to work different parts of the body. The only negative thing that I can say is that my feet start to hurt half way through. However, I can also remember when my feet hurt when I first started to use the treadmill. So, I may just have to get used to it. I can also watch t.v. without having to turn up the volume like with the treadmill, which will be a definite plus with the baby. I would buy this product again and do recommend it. YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THE CLOCK, ETC. STARTS TO MOVE IF THE SWING ARMS MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD DURING STORAGE OR SETUP. IF THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN RESET EVERYTHING BY PUSHING ON THE BUTTON FOR A COUPLE SECONDS, UNTIL THE SCREEN "ZEROES OUT." I DID NOT REALIZE THIS UNTIL THE SECOND DAY.
