I chose this hotel for its heavily promoted Irish family atmosphere-nothing could be further from the truth.
On arrival, our reservation could not be found-cue 30 minutes waiting without apology before they accepted that I was not making it up.No assistance offerred with luggage-given room on top floor(9th) which was tiny and had seen better days.Just enough room for 2 double beds and spent all three days falling over each other. The bathroom is minute-just room for a shower, toilet and washstand.
There is no deskspace although there is internet access provided you lie on the bed to operate your laptop.
The lobby is small and the information provided by the concierge(when he could be found)was out of date.
The bar is also small and closes early, even for residents-there are plans to extend the bar/restaurant area.
On departure, they tried to charge me for over $100 of drinks/food that had been signed to my room the night before by some conman.I was sympathetic initially to the fact that they had been ripped off but the suspicion with which I was treated in public was unacceptable. After another 30 minutes waiting for this to be resolved before I checked out(by which time I had produced a timed receipt showing I had been eating elsewhere when the bill was run up),the barmaid on duty the previous day confirmed she remembered the individual who had run up the tab and had been suspicious of him at the time.No apology was given for the manner in which I was treated-I was just informed that they were sure I had to understand that they had to investigate! All the staff I encountered were either brusque or incompetent-quite simply the worst experience I have had in a US hotel
