Nice Hotel, Nicer Location

Written: Nov 19 '00
Pros:Location, value, atmosphere
Cons:Older strip casino, not as much flair as some of the newer stuff

The Flamingo Hilton is not to be confused with the newer major theme casinos on the strip. Though it is incredibly close and within walking distance of Paris, The Bellagio, The Mirrage, New York, New York and such, it is not as large, new or exciting. Nonetheless, it is a very nice hotel with a beautiful center courtyard with pools, ponds, lawns, palm trees, tennis courts, bars, and of course, flamingos.

The room we stayed in was nicely appointed with a coffee table, loveseat, a few chairs, and such, in addition to the usual bed, entertainment hutch and the like and was comfortably spacious. The price was very affordable and the restaurants contained within were varied enough to suit whatever a guests tastes might be. Check-in was quick and easy, the staff was helpful and the casino floor is exciting and expansive.

The thing to remember when you're going to Vegas is, you're spending lots of time out of your room and on the strip. You can see and experience The Bellagio without paying the Bellagio price and still stay in style in a good location.

I live in Reno and so it was interesting to see how our big sister to the south does it. We were impressed with the Flamingo and will surely be back.
