| mcoluccio's Full Review: Flamingo Las Vegas |
Visiting Las Vegas has always been an exhausting and yet a great mini vacation until we stayed at the Flamingo Hilton. We have stayed there 3 separate times and swore never to stay any place else again.
The rooms are very airy, colorful and large enough to feel comfortable and not closed into a usual hole that most "junkets" have to offer. Their room service is efficient and prompt which is amazing, considering the enormous size of the hotel and the many rooms with guests it has to take care the needs of. The rooms are very well-kept and make you feel warm and clean. You never find anything messy or a missed spot which hasn't been cleaned at any time.
Walking around the hotel is really great. They have a spa and an exercise area, swimming pool, and a variety of great restaurants with buffets galore. If the meals are not included in your trip like ours were, their prices are very reasonable and there is so many different dishes to choose from. The location is super since it is in the heart of the strip and close to all of the main casinos so for just a little walk away, you can go to any of the others to eat or gamble. I particularly liked gambling at the Flamingo because it is cozy and smaller than some of the others. Easier to find what I wanted to play and even easier to find my wandering partner or travelling mates.
They also have great shops, although a little bit higher in prices than I am accustomed to paying for clothes or trinkets; but then, what the heck, it IS a vacation, isn't it? So once in a blue moon, it can't hurt to shop in a boutique and feel what it's like to be catered to. Their beauty salon is nothing to brag about but then if I wanted to hang out in a beauty parlor and worry about my hair or to gossip, I would have stayed in Brooklyn - at home. Walking around the grounds is truly like walking in a Wonderland of beauty with a touch of class and dignity. Not a lot of statues towering over you making you wonder whose who and it doesn't have so much detail to concentrate on that you get a headache and feel utterly confused just looking at every detail.
MY greatest achievement in this hotel was being able to get from the casino to my room or from the restaurant to my room without asking for directions or having a map drawn out for me. Some of the other newer hotels with their winding halls and secret passages make you want to go out and buy a tour guide to keep with you on the trip just to direct your way back to the room.
