| Staceys1's Full Review: Flying Colors Dora the Explorer: Adventure Stamper... |
If you have a preschool-aged child, then you are probably familiar with the NickJr. television show Dora the Explorer. My four year old daughter has enjoyed watching Dora and her friends for quite some time and when I saw the Dora the Explorer Adventure Stampers I knew she would enjoy them.
The package contains four stampers representing four of the characters on the television show:
Dora - the stamp is about 3.5 inches tall with a plastic Dora dressed in her usual purple top and orange shorts with her purple backpack with Map sticking out of the back. It makes a red imprint of Dora's face when stamped.
Boots - Dora's monkey pal Boots is a drop smaller than the Dora stamp, and he is dressed in his trademark red boots. This stamp makes a turquoise imprint of Boots' smiling face.
Swiper the Fox - "Swiper, No Swiping!" must be shouted three times whenever he appears on the television screen or he might take something from Dora or Boots. The stamp is about 3 inches tall and this sly fox leaves a green imprint of his face when stamped.
Tico - is a squirrel whom Dora and Boots meet on occasion. Tico's stamp is the smallest one, and creates a purple picture of his face.
The stamps all create good likenesses of their characters, and they are easy to hold onto. My daughter has created scenes with the characters, and since only the faces are stamped, she has been able to use her creativity to draw the rest of the bodies.
The stamps are pre-inked and as long as they are kept covered when not in use, the ink will last at least a few months. After that, you may need to invest in a stamp pad to continue using these stamps.
The one con regarding this set is that there are some characters not represented. The Map is a major player in the television series but there is no map stamp. There are other characters missing as well, like Benny the Bull (whom my children adore!), Senor Tucan and Isa the Iguana who often make appearances on the show.
Overall, I would recommend the Dora the Explorer Adventure Stampers for any child over the age of 3, interested in the television show who also enjoys arts and crafts type activities. It cost us about $10 for this toy, and it has brought hours of creative, quiet playtime for my daughter.
