.......version with little animal game pieces and a wooden board. It's a toss up now whether I can win against the nine year old (hopefully this says more about the nine year old than about me). This is definitely a fun game, great write up!

that Mancala dates back to ancient Egypt (then again, what doesn't?).
Seems like the ancient predecessor to backgammon.

this game in one of those 9-in-1 sets that I bought the kids for Christmas. We use it when we go camping and go away. We forgot it in February, but it's with the stuff to go with us to North Carolina next month.

a computer game series called "Smart Games" and they have a single-player version of this called Solocala. Needless to say, I'm ridiculously bad at it. Math logic= the reason why I fell asleep and out of my chair in algebra I yesterday :D
