| toyshika's Full Review: Forehead Fever Thermometer |
Oh I know, your wondering why I had a title like that, for an item that measures your temperature. Well, let's explain how I feel about this item. If you own a fish, you will understand what I am about to say. I purchased the same item from a fish store, to measure the temperature of my glass. It's so inaccurate, that I went and purchased the one that goes in the tank. Ok, enough of that. Let's be realistic here. I don't know about your active 2 year old, who comes with his own mood swings, but my child won't let me hold this plastic thing on his head, no matter how many times I tell him Elmo wants me to. Actually, even if you hold it their for 5 seconds, the time is wrong. You can do it 1 minute later, and it will tell you that your sons temperature is 120. Yes, enough to make you call 911, only to find out it was wrong. This item is inaccurate I believe, is based upon the user. Meaning, I think the item is picking up a small percentage of our body temperature, along with the sick child. I would rather use the old time methods that I grew up on, or I would prefer what the hospitals are using, and this is not on their list. They like the under the tongue, but if your baby is as young as mine, a cup of milk and mercury is out of the question. I then prefer to do the quick in the ear or the forehead method. They do work, and their very accurate. I would recommend this item, for someone who wants to use it for their fish tank, where it doesn't matter how cold the water can be. Won't make a difference right? It will be so far off the numbers anyway. Oh, and this item was given to me as a baby gift. Not from a person who has a child, so I won't hold it against her. Like they recall everything else, this needs to be on the list. Your child could have a high fever, yet it may read out 5 degrees lower. If you love your children like I do, then you will stick with your methods. You should always ask his/her doctor what they recommend. I know the hospital gave me the under arm thing, which I still have and use on occasion. Hope this helps....
