The Bottom Line: I havent given an excellent rating on a Christian album in a long time. I recommend this album to everyone! Free To Fly is miraculous!
cshell76's Full Review: Free to Fly by Point Of Grace
It has been quite a while since Point of Grace released a new album. But, Free To Fly is certainly worth the wait. I have been listening to Christian music for fifteen years and I have rarely heard anything like this.
Let me begin by saying that this is simply the most incredible contemporary Christian album I have heard in a long time. Point of Grace blends their gorgeous harmony with the most beautifully written and orchestrated songs you can imagine. There is not a single song on this track that isnt fantastic.
1. By Heart - A great start to the album, this is an upbeat love song to the Lord. The chorus says in part, "I want you memorized, so when I close my eyes, all I have to do is keep loving you by heart."
2. You Will Never Walk Alone - My personal favorite on the album (though it was hard to choose). A slow ballad, this song is about the years we spend on our journey through life. And sometimes we face deserts and mountains and valleys. "But you will never walk alone. As long as you have faith, Jesus will be right beside you, all the way. You may feel you're far from home, but home is where He is. And He'll be there down every road. You will never walk alone."
3.He Sends His Love - Written and sung to Point of Grace fans who send their letters and stories, this song reminds us that "He gave His Son and He sends His love."
4. Praise Forevermore - Darlene Zschech, popular Australian worship-leader wrote this praise song "singing hallelujah" to God for all He is and all He has done for us.
5. Blue Skies - The message of this song is sweet and simple: when our days are gray, He is our blue sky.
6. Begin With Me - Another upbeat track recognizing the faults we have as human beings and asking God to start changing the world through individual hearts.
7. All That I Need - Sometimes we forget that God's love is unconditional and never-ending. All That I Need is a prayer, thanking God for His love and acknowledging that it is the only love we need.
8. Free Indeed - I love this song because it is a very different style than we are used to from P.O.G. This is song has a downright funky sound. I cant help but smile through the whole song. And I love the words "The Son has come to free us, so set your eyes on Jesus, you're free now."
9. Something So Good - Point of Grace has a triumphant sound as they sing in this upbeat track, "We've got something so good, we're going to show you." Reminding us that if God is as good as we believe, we should be proud to tell everyone about Him!
10. Yes, I Believe - Another of my favorites, Yes, I Believe recognizes that when we begin to follow Christ, we do so with our whole hearts, but we later learn some of the costs associated with being a Christian. This track makes us ask ourselves, no matter what, will I say "Yes, I believe, I believe with all that is in me. Yes, I believe though the world rises up against me. I will be faithful to the choice that I've made. I am determined, I will not be ashamed to live so the whole world can see, that yes, I believe." POWERFUL!
11. La-la-la - The last song on the album happens to be my least favorite, but still a great song. It speaks of how God knows our hearts, and our thoughts, and our prayers before we pray them. So, it stands to reason, if we want to sing to Him and dont have the words, we can just sing a little melody and He'll fill in the rest.
As you can tell, I am passionate about this album. Even the dedication "Free to Fly is dedicated to our wonderful husbands...thank you for the freedom to go and sing, but mostly for loving us when we come home."
With a string of Dove Awards to their credit, Point of Grace is ready to spread their wings and again soar to the top of the charts! Savor their crisp...More at Christianbook.com
