Robotic mowers have got to be the most under utilized technology that there is and I should know since I have been trying to sell them for some time.  Everyone is intruiged by them but nobody in the midwest seems to be willing to take a leap of faith to buy one.  I bought my first robomower an RL-850 on ebay hoping it wouldn't be a total flop.  Low and behold the product really worked.  Yes the mower is slow and mows in a somewhat random pattern BUT it gets the job done, assuming you planned your layout properly.  In my opinion the roomba is a joke when it comes to cleaning a room but the robomower RL-850 and Rl-1000 really accomplish their intended goals.  Like other robomowers this mower doesn't know what has been mowed and what has not.  I am excited for the future of robotic mowers that have GPS intelligence to know what has been cut and what has not as well has to avoid having to run a wire around the perimeter of your property.  If you are a low key person this mower is not for you as everyone notices this device when it is in use.  However if you like attention as much as I do this is just what the Dr. ordered.  Success with the RL-1000 often hinges on dividing your yard into properly sized zones which you are unlikely to get right the first time.  As a result I recommend against burying the wire until you know everything is working properly.
