Pros:Inexpensive, Variety of flavors, Special Diet Version
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: Friskies Special Diet Adult Cat Foods are healthy for my cats and great value for money.
I've been here at Epinions since September 2000 and I've just realized that I've never written a cat-related epinion. This strikes me as especially strange because not only am I a cat-owner, I am a five cat-owner!
To recap quickly I only intended to own one cat - however we decided that two cats could keep each other company, and then we rescued the other three and were unable to give them up for adoption! The Famous Five include:
Marmalade and Linus - the original cats
Monty, Buttercup and Cosmo - the final three
All of our cats have enjoyed excellent health with the exception of Marmalade who at age 1 got an infection in his urinary tract. Up until this point I had fed the cats any old brand of food and a combination of wet and dry food each day. With a vet bill of $200 to $300 I found out that Marmalade's infection had been caused by the high ash content of his food and it was then that I decided to feed the cats Friskies Special Diet Adult Cat Food.
Description of Friskies Special Diet Cat Food
(1) This is a canned, wet cat food that I purchase in a 5.5 oz can with a pull-top lid.
(2) The cat food comes in a variety of flavors including:
Beef and Chicken Entree
Salmon
Beef and Liver Entree
Turkey and Giblets
Ocean Whitefish
...not exactly my favorite flavors but they go down well with the cats!!
(3) Friskies Special Diet Cat Food varies from the regular Friskies Cat Food because it has a Low Magnesium and Ash content - Maximum Ash content is guaranteed to be 2.8% and Maximum Magnesium content is guaranteed to be 0.024%.
(4) I was assured by Marmalade's vet that the ash and magnesium contents would help lower his urinary pH and reduce the risk of urinary infection - three years later this is still working.
(5) Friskies Special Diet Foods cost me 39 cents per 5.5oz can, but occasionally they are on sale at our local supermarket for 25 cents each. I think this is excellent value to ensure the health of our cats and in the prevention of large vet bills.
In conclusion ....
I highly recommend Friskies Adult Cat Foods and in particular the Special Diet variety. The cats love them and complement them with Friskies Special Diet Dry Cat Food on the side!!
