Pros: Beef and Beef broth are first two ingredients. Well received!
Cons: by-products, artificial flavors, price
The Bottom Line: A tender ground cat food with beef as the first ingredient, and no BHA/BHT or Ethoxyquin. Wish it came in larger cans, and did not use By-Products.

| patriciak's Full Review: Friskies Fancy Feast Tender Beef Feast Gourmet Cat... |
Those who are familiar with my reasons for trying so many varieties of canned cat food, know this is a serious pursuit for me. Along the way, I discovered Fancy Feast Tender Beef Feast Gourmet Cat Food, and it has become a favorite choice.
So Why Bother Feeding Wet Food?
A number of reasons! If you have a senior catizen, whose appetite wanes, you'll quickly find yourself seeking both the reason for the decline, as well as rushing off to the store to peruse the cat food shelves and the dizzying array of flavors, prices per can, and brand claims. Reasons for weight loss can include Chronic Renal Failure, Hyperthyroidism, dental issues, cancer, Irritable Bowel Disease to name just a few. Of course, there is always the simple essential picky nature that is part of the feline psyche! Even if you are not dealing with a senior catizen, or a health problem, wet/canned foods are worthy of consideration because recent research questions the higher carbohydrate content of dry foods & asks whether or not a wet food diet is not better for the long term health of your cat.
Okay, cut to the chase, will my cat eat this stuff?
Perhaps! I can just share my taste tester's response, each cat is just an individual as any human re taste preferences. Some cats adore anything fishy, others prefer chicken, some just want gravy...that's all..gravy atop whatever and they will eat it.
Ophelia is my "Beef Eater" gal. She likes her beef minced, roasted, or tender ground. She always eats her Fancy Feast Beef no matter the "presentation" in the can. She gives the Tender Beef Feast her highest rating - 4 paws up (and a batting of her eye lashes. She's quite the flirt).
Patrick, my CRF kitty, will sometimes eat this with great fervor, which given his lack of appetite, is quite a recommendation. It is not the best food on the market for him, but it is balanced by the fact he will eat it, a rather basic necessity. He gives this 2 1/2 paws up.
The Product
All Fancy Feast flavors come in one size, a 3 oz. can that features an easy use pop-top. There is a "Best Use By" date on the bottom of the can that is easy to read. Questions or comments on any Fancy Feast product can be addressed by calling them at 1-800-933-0991, M-F 8 am to 8 pm Eastern. Fancy Feast Tender Beef Feast Gourmet Cat Food is made in the USA. It has a soft ground texture, no gravy but a little juice is present. The flavor is very similar to a meat stick (no slam on that tasty little product), and the taste is apparently quite pleasing to Ophelia!

Bottom Line per the One Purchasing The Food
I am happy that Fancy Feast Tender Beef Feast Gourmet Cat Food does not contain preservatives such as I listed under the "Not Present" note above, and happy that the first two ingredients are actually beef! My one complaint would be that there is any use of by-products, and that the cost is kept high by restricting can size to just 3 oz. All Fancy Feast foods are easily found in most grocery stores, and some pet stores and some pet superstores. This is a worthwhile food if your finicky darling needs something precious and new to taste, or if your beloved cat is a bit off its appetite. It also makes a nice treat post-dental extractions when your kitty needs a canned food diet only!
Recommended Feeding Guidelines
From the can, for adult cats feed 1 can per 3 1/2 pounds of weight, feed kittens up to twice this amount daily.
