Pros:Cute shapes, added vitamins and minerals.
Cons:None that I can see.
The Bottom Line: I like knowing that my cat really enjoys these treats. Furthermore, they appear to be a healthy choice.
I love giving my cat treats. It's simply fun to occasionally give him snacks that he really likes, and watch him really enjoy them. Plus, it's the only way we can "bribe" him, like when we want him to come inside, when he'd prefer to stay out. So I'm always on the lookout for snacks that he likes enough to actually get up from his favorite outdoor lounge chair and walk inside to eat.
Recently I came across Friskies Natural Sensations treats, in the "real chicken" flavor. Immediately, the packaging appealed to me. The package boasts that the snacks contain "tastes inspired by the Sun, Earth, and Sea". Furthermore, there are "added vitamins & minerals", and these treats contain "accents of sunflower and seaweed". I have no idea if there are health benefits to sunflowers or seaweed, but I was intrigued enough, to give these treats a try.
When I opened the package, I was happy to see that these treats come in three interesting shapes. There's a seven-point star representing the sun, a circle representing the Earth, and a clamshell representing the sea. How cute! I have no idea if each of the three shapes has a different flavor. Music eats all three of them, without showing any preferences.
Looking at the ingredients, some of the more interesting ones are: chicken meal, rice, corn meal, Vitamin E, dried seaweed, sunflower meal, dried carrots, dried peas, Vitamin A, Vitamin B-12 and Vitamin D3. I have no idea how much of each vitamin is in there, nor do I know if cats really need supplements of these vitamins. But if Friskies thinks these are healthy for cats, I'm willing to accept their word on it. I also note that the package says there are no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. As far as the guaranteed analysis goes, we have protein min. 23%, fat min. 9%, fiber max. 4%, and moisture max. 11%.
All I know is, "Music" loves these snacks, and is almost always willing to come inside when I shake the bag. He will happily eat every snack that's offered. The resealable 2.1 oz. bag costs just a couple bucks. There's a fairly strong, unpleasant odor inside the bag, but nothing different than other brands of treats. And, it's only unpleasant to me; Music seems to like it, just fine.
I trust the Friskies name, and Music loves these treats. Obviously, this isn't a meal-substitute, but for occasional treats, everyone is happy. So, we give it two thumbs and four paws up.
