Pros: cats seem to like them
Cons: not preferred over soft treats
These Friskies Natural Sensations Salmon Cat Treats showed up in our cats' Christmas stocking this year. I liked the idea that they were marketed as "natural" and honestly I had a free coupon for them and could find them locally while shopping.
We have 2 older cats, ages 13 and 15. They love treats more and more as they age. The packaging is really cute and colorful and comes in a 2.1 oz resealable bag with depictions of nature's "elements" in the colors blue, green and orange. (representing the water, land, and sun from my guess) Additionally, the bag shows pictures of the actual treats inside - bits in circles, shells and stars. The packaging states this treat is "made with real salmon", with "accents of sunflower & garden veggies."
The company claims that these treats contain no preservatives, artificial colors or flavors. The idea being that the pet owner would feel comforted about giving their pet a treat they love that is good for them. Though I personally thought the "natural" idea was a neat one, I think how the pet reacts to the treat is the most important consideration.
Overall I'd say our cats really like these Friskies Natural Sensations Salmon Cat Treats. They get excited when they see the bag and they eat them heartily. These treats are crunchy, like dry cat food, but seem to peek our cats' interests more than their cat food.
Still, when I've given the cats a soft treat and this harder treat, they always bypass this product. Eventually they get eaten, but they do seem partial to soft treats. It may have something to do with their age and ease of eating.
On the whole, I'd give the Friskies Natural Sensations Salmon Cat Treats a solid 3-4 stars, based on our cats eating of them and the ingredients in them.
