| yakkowarner's Full Review: Frontierland Shootin' Exposition - Disneyland |
This is an attraction in Disneyland. Anaheim, California. It is located in the western part of the park.
Where is it located.
It is located in the frontier section of Disneyland. There are two lanes to the rivers of America. One passes by the Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones. The other lane is North of that lane which is where this shooting range is. It is between the top of Main Street and the Rivers of America.
How it works.
The theme is an old west theme. All of the decorations are related from tombstones, frontier building, several animals, cover wagons, and even the rifles you use. It has a spooky feel to it but plenty of humor can be found.
You put 2 quarters in a slot and you get twenty-five shots from a long rifle. It works off of light (I think). The idea is to shot the target (a round red light) and something happens to the subject next to the target. It could be a can falling, a fight in the bar, a vulture making a noise, etc. Most targets are nonmoving but there are a few moving targets in the back right if you want more of a challenge.
By the numbers.
Note, I may be slightly off on these numbers. I did not write down the number like I should have but next time I am there I will double check my numbers and update if necessary.
44 targets not including the trains/wagons.
You get 25 shots
I thought there were 18 guns available. There are also two guns that are designed for individuals in wheelchairs because the platform is slightly lowered. I would also assume small children would find that area useful. My wife at 5 4 was comfortable with the regular height.
Ease of use as well as accuracy.
They are very similar to using a 22 rifle without the kick. So although they are not as easy to use as the video game guns, they are fairly realistic in their weight and dimensions. I would give ease of use a 6/10.
There have been times when the rifles have been inaccurate. But this last time (September 10th) my rifle was accurate. But my wife did not feel her rifle was accurate.
Who is this for?
Anyone that can hold a long rifle and is in a nostalgic mood. It is fun but it does cost money (50 cents at the time this review was posted.)

Check out the cactus
Problems
Sometimes the rifles are inaccurate. But once you realize where they shoot then you can easily hit the target. It would sure be nice if Disneyland would calibrate these on a regular basis.
Summary
A fun little shooting arcade located in Frontierland. If you have shot in an arcade before then you know exactly what this is. It is a western theme and fairly well done, but it is dated. If you have 50 cents to spare and you want to kill a little time, then check it out. But if you want a thrill then you should pass.
