susiewho's Full Review: Frontline Top Spot for Dogs
I've been a Wildlife Rescue Person for several decades. A few years ago I opted out for awhile due to Lime Disease problems in our area of New Jersey. That combined with the birth of our first grandchild . I had preventative vaccination for Lime disease but there was nothing to protect the babies.
Flash forward a couple of years and I'm the owner of 2 Chihuahuas and I have 5 grand kids. All are at a much less vulnerable age now so I'm back into animals. I use Frontline Top Spot now and all my issues are addressed.
Growing up we had dogs, cats, monkeys and birds. Just a funny aside, my Dad would wear flea collars around his ankles to prevent getting bitten.
I began using Frontline Top Spot immediately with my pets and have not seen one flea and only one tick, a dead one.
The dogs are between 6-8 lbs and I bought the Frontline Top Spot for Dogs and Puppies 8 weeks or older and up to 22 lbs and divided the dose between the two of them.
Frontline is meant to control fleas, ticks and chewing lice. It will kill brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, lone star ticks and very importantly deer ticks (Lime Disease carriers) as well as chewing lice.
The Frontline applicator is held upright after you snap the tip off (holding this away from your face). You place the tip through the hair and onto the skin between the shoulder blades. Squeeze and apply contents to area of skin only. Each applicator is one treatment (unless you have really small dogs like mine. I use half the applicator on each).
Frontline Top Spot also wards off sarcoptic mange and mites. It's safe for pregnant, breeding or lactating females. Its waterproof even with frequent bathing. It should be stored at room temperature. Avoid contact with your skin or clothing.
You apply this monthly and it kills adult fleas for up to three months. If your pet has flea allergy dermatitis or there is high risk of re-infestation the monthly application is a must. Remember fleas are cyclical, they have three stages larvae, pupae, adult so if you haven't addressed the problem from scratch it may take awhile to get it under control. I recommend choosing one date and making that the date you use this each month so you don't forget.
The monthly application also controls ticks.

I purchased mine from Dr.Foster and Smith (fosterandsmith.com) for $29.99 & $2.99 SH). I had purchased it from Petco at first for $33.29 + SH but comparison shopping proved FostersandSmith has the best price. Petmeds price is $37.99 + SH.
