Cindsan's Full Review: Frontline Top Spot for Dogs
I work in an animal hospital and one of my duties is advising clients about flea and tick control. Frontline Top Spot makes my job just a little easier. It is effective, easy to use and safe (or as safe as you can reasonably expect any insecticide to be) and works for a month for ticks and fleas. Ticks aren't a big problem in our area and it works for up to 3 months for flea control on dogs and controls fleas for 1 month on cats.
Application is quite easy, especially when you compare it to spraying or powdering. All you need to do is part the hair between the pet's shoulder blades and empty the applicator against the skin. The reason you apply it there is because it is a spot where a pet cannot easily lick it off. It is helpful to do this with 2 people, one to part the hair while the other applies the Top Spot. Make sure you don't wash your pet for 2 days before or after application or it will lose some of it's effectiveness. Make sure to treat all the cats and dogs in the household, except for young kittens or puppies. Also, check with your vet before using it on old or sick animals.
We have used it in our practice for a number of years and I can only think of one animal that had an adverse reaction to it. It was a cat that had severe drooling immediately after application. We admitted the cat for observation and washed it several times and the cat was fine.
