Pros: 6X optical zoom; great images; low shutter delay; long battery-life; web-cam
Cons: Electronic view-finder is opaque at low light. xD memory card is the most expensive.
The Bottom Line: The 6X zoom is outstanding, pictures are excellent, and battery life great. Cannot adjust the ISO and EVF is hard to see through in low light.

| autri's Full Review: FUJIFILM FinePix 3800 Digital Camera |
The 6X optical zoom is unusually good at this price range, the shutter delay is minimal, the image quality is excellent, battery-life is long and the menus are intuitive. I have been using this camera for four months now and it takes great pictures. The included Finepix viewer software is fairly useful. It allows this camera to be used as a web-cam through the USB connection. The camera build is excellent and fits well in my hand. It feels durable although it is light. However, it is difficult to frame the picture in low light as the Electronic View Finder is almost opaque in low light conditions.
We take pictures indoors in natural light, of outdoor landscapes, as well as portraits and close-ups. This camera has been great in all situations. We don't use the video mode much as the video quality is far inferior to our digital camcorder's.
As with all digital cameras, I'd recommend buying a large capacity memory card. Unfortunately, the proprietary xD picture cards are the most expensive memory cards that you can find.
The Finepix 3800 was rated #1 by Consumer Reports. Paid $175 for it at buy.com ($280-$60 rebate-$30 buy.com 24-hr sale rebate - $15 new customer coupon).
