| katinaa_22's Full Review: FUJIFILM FinePix 3800 Digital Camera |
Before I start this review, I would just like to add a little information about myself. When it comes to technology and electronics, I will be the first to admit that I am no Guru. Talking about pixels and macro's are merely terms that I cannot relate too. Luckily for me I know that I am not alone in this.
What I need when it comes to anything electronic is something easy to use that requires very little explanation or then again, something that does not require a 200 page user manual and a dictionary. My main uses for a camera is to take pictures of my children, birthday parties, and of course friends and family. So unfortunately if you are looking for a technical review, I am unable to comply.
What do you get?
Along with the camera you will receive;
a xd picture card (16mg) which can hold a very small quantity of pictures, not enough for anything of real use.
4x AA alkaline batteries, another thing you will have to replace often as this camera can really go through them. It would not be a bad idea to pick up some rechargeable batteries, it could really bring down your cost.
A lens cap is also included, it clip's on easily and quickly, it has a small bracket on the inside that could be clipped onto the shoulder strap (Which also comes with the camera) this keeps the lens from getting caught in the frame.
Also you will receive a usb cable, this is what puts your pictures onto your computer.
and of course a CD rom with a program for you pictures. This is one of my favorite items, because, all I have to do to get my pictures onto my computer is plug in the usb cord, and the computer does the rest.
Now for the camera itself. It is, luckily for me, very user friendly. The camera is operated through two dials on the top.
There are 4 different modes that allow you to take pictures, macro, auto, scene position, or movie/video.
All four different modes, have sub modes that could be used like; red eye reduction, flash specifications, light specifications, self timer, auto focus, exposure compensation, white balance, sharpness, and quality. This is probably the most confusing part of the camera, because some of the sub features are only available in some modes, and not in others, also, you can use two modes together, for example, you could use the self timer and quality for one specific frame.
Finding and deleting pictures is quite simple, you simply have to find the picture you do not want and open up the menu and pick the trash can, from there the camera prompts you to do the rest.
The build of the camera is nice. It is shaped to the contour of your palm to allow it to sit comfortably in your hands while you try to take your pictures. It has a rubber grip, to get a better, and secure handle. It is lightweight and easy to hold.
It is definitely durable, having a constant stream of children running around here, the camera has been dropped more than once and manhandled even more, and yet it still works just as good as it did on the day that it was purchased.
The users manual that accompanied the camera is easy to read and even easier to understand. The instructions are clear and concise, as well it offers many tips on getting the best quality picture possible.
There are no complaints when it comes to the quality of the pictures that you get with the Finepix 3800. The pictures are sharp and clear, I have been able to enlarge up to 8 X 10 without loosing any of the pictures quality.
