I would recommend this value-based digital camera to anyone that is looking for a basic digicam for a low price with great features and image quality. I bought this camera in Dec 2003 for $180 from Amazon.com and I have only been disappointed by 1 single thing. Read on….

Features
This camera offers the basic features of just about any camera in this price range. 3.1 megapixels is fine for anyone just wanting to print off up to 8x10 size prints. The image processing that Fuji does onboard the camera is excellent and tends to enhance most images. The XD memory chip is not as bad as everyone says it is. This chip can be up to 2x faster than other memory chips and is much smaller in size. There is a slight increase in price for this type of memory but not much when you find a sale. It has 3x zoom which is sufficient for most shots (digital zoom is practically worthless on any camera so I will not go into detail on digital zoom). The lens retracts into the camera and has a manual lens cover to prevent damage during storage or transit. The back LCD is of average size but the colors get somewhat washed in sunlight. The LCD is near-realtime so there is no jerkiness. Ive noticed that the LCD output is very close to what your captured shot will look like.

There are two specific things I do not like about this camera.
(1) There is no focus assist light so you must have ample lighting when focusing on anything. This can be very hard to do in low light situations or indoors.
(2) The camera is slightly bulky compared to its competitors. It is still a small size but there are other cameras which are a bit slimmer.

As with most digital cameras, it does take a couple seconds between shots before the camera is ready to go again. There will be more of a delay when using the flash (upwards of 5 seconds average) and less of a delay without the flash (2-3 seconds).

I use 1800 mAh NiMH batteries in my A210 and they take about 300 pictures before running out. I highly recommend nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries because they are rechargeable, long lasting, and provide consistent power.

Image Quality
Over the past 2 years I have taken a huge variety of shots. This camera has yet to disappoint me with its image quality. The best shots I have taken have been outdoors shots or indoor shots with plenty of light. Taking photos with the flash tend to produce oversaturated pictures in most cases. The macro mode on this camera is excellent and brings out details you cannot see with your eye.

Watch out
From experience, DO NOT use lens cleaning fluid on this camera. The first A210 I bought I used lens cleaning fluid on and the lens had a chemical reaction and turned to an oily surface.
