| fair_is_fair's Full Review: FUJIFILM FinePix F601 Zoom Digital Camera |
My wife drown my lovely Fuji last winter. I was heartbroke. Sent the camera back to Fuji to see if it was repairable. It was not but Fuji did offer to sell me a new model at wholesale price or send me a refurbished f601. Remember, my camera was long off of warranty. I opted for another f601 for $225.00 Canadian. I could not find a new model I wanted and I was so used to my old camera. The refurbished camera came as in brand new condition with all the extras. Works perfectly and has a full one year warranty. I could not be more pleased with Fuji.
I have since moved on to using Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/index.html) for handling my digital photos. It is a great tool for downloading photos and cataloging them. It has the best email feature I have seen in any software. Photofiltre (http://www.photofiltre.com/) is very nice, free software to spruce up your digital photos.
I see another complaining about the battery in the camera. This camera has an awesome battery(lithium). I have never ran it down. I will take some pics, leave the camera for a few days and take more pics - the battery stays good. The pics are crystal clear. I use the 3 mp setting at fine - gives me over 100 pics with the 128mb card. I download them and resize them for emailing and dvd. You need to resize them to 2.1 or less mega pixels for showing over a dvd player with 99 pics or less on the disk. Forget about the Fuji software - you do not need it with XP. Its not that good anyways. Just use the camera/scanner wizard in XP or even better, use Roxio's photosuite 5. Photosuite is just excellent for digital cameras. There is some red eye with indoor shots even with the corrective settings. And the flash is limited. You can also turn up the settings to obtain a 6 mp pic with this camera!
