| tdanza's Full Review: FUJIFILM FinePix S700 Digital Camera |
My experience with the Fuji FinePix S700 Digital Camera has been very joyful, as previous camera's that I have had have been garbage. The capabilities that the FinePix S700 camera has convinced me why digital cameras are better that 800 speed 35mm film. The specs on this camera prove its worth.
Basic information:
The Fuji FinePix S700 Digital Camera is a 7.1 Megapixel Camera with 10x zoom. It offers both picture and video (with audio) capabilities. The easy viewing 2.5 inch LCD viewing panel on the back allows picture/video review and a digital lens for taking pictures.
Clearity:
The 7.1 Megapixel ability allows the photographer to take crystal clear pictures, which can be viewed on the largest sized prints without distortion. There is an option to change the image size between 640 x 480, 3072 x 2048, 2304 x 1728, 1600 x 1200, and 3072 x 2304 pixels.
The 10x zoom capability is somewhat valuable. It allows you to zoom about 5x before distortion of the image starts to happen.
Video clarity is very good for a digital camera. It offers very little lag during motion and you can take as long a video clip as one wishes (memory permitting).
Memory:
The Fuji FinePix S700 Digital Camera has a built in memory of 27 Megabytes, which is an insufficient amount for the quality of pictures that the camera takes. To combat this problem, the FinePix S700 takes xD memory cards. This was the biggest obstacle for me, as a person who had SD cards (which is the most commonly used memory cards in the novice photographer world) I had to go out and buy new cards. These cards do not go on sale as much as the SD cards do, thus they are pretty expensive.
Taking Pictures:
The FinePix S700 is wonderful at taking pictures. It has an auto focus for those users who do not want to mess around and just take a picture. It also has "situational" picture settings, such as low-light, high-light, motion, etc. pictures. The FinePix S700 also has a 1.4 frames per second picture taking capability, which means you can take more pictures in a smaller chunk of time.
There is also a self-timer, which allows you to take those "family pictures" all together.
Other:
The FinePix S700 takes four AA batteries. The life on the batteries is a decent amount of pictures, as it should since it takes four batteries to use the camera.
The menu on the camera is fairly basic. The owners manual goes through the details of the content in the cameras menus (as well as how to navigate through the menu).
The camera comes with "AA alkaline batteries (4), shoulder strap, lens cap, lens cap cord, A/V cable, USB cable, CD-ROM (FinePixViewer-S/FinePixViewer) and Owners Manual."
Concluding Remarks:
The Fuji FinePix S700 Digital Camera is an excellent 7.1 Megapixel camera. It has a lot of different features but is still basic enough that a novice user can figure the camera out. It take crystal clear pictures and very nice video (with sound).
