My son received this as a birthday present this year, and when I first saw it I thought it looked like a fun summer toy.
Tyler has a couple other sprinklers that he has enjoyed, but as with most kids a "new" one was even better! How this sprinkler works is basically a cute idea. It has 4 foam pieces attached to the base of it, and as the water goes through them they wiggle in the air, from side to side spraying water out. The higher the water is turned up, the faster they wiggle. Just the right amount of water sprays out, which is a plus with my son, as he doesn't like water sprayed in his face.
The first time we used it, the kids loved it. They tried to catch the foam sprinklers, and they had a good time. The next day they wanted to use it again, and the fun didn't last very long. The foam pieces seemed to just pull off, so all that was left on the base of the sprinkler was 4 tubes that the water runs through. That was the last time it was used, it just wasn't the same with the colorful foam pieces off.
This is a fun sprinkler, as long as you don't play with the foam pieces, and of course that was the best part for 5 year olds, trying to catch the wiggly pieces. This would be a good toy for a younger child, because it doesn't get them too wet.
