Pros:Small, lightweight, quiet, easy to use, fast enough, good enough.
Cons:Need to be a little bit more careful with warm up compared to big laminators.
The Bottom Line:
This is a mini laminator which can be used to laminate legal sized document and smaller documents. It is almost as good as the big ones but more home friendly.
Laminators can be useful for the office. However, as we recently discovered after getting this mini Laminator, they can also be useful in the home, and they can partially serve as a toy. After all getting all the kids homework, diplomas, poems, artwork, drawings, and other flat things they own laminated can be both fun and somewhat useful.

I received the GBC HeatSeal Inspire 9 inch Laminator via the Amazon Vine program. It came with a set of pouches but they did not last very long. My daughter laminated quite a bit and I also used it for laminating some business related documents, business cards and our social security cards. However, laminating pouches are sold in a lot of places including Office Max and Office Depot. It turns out that 100 laminator pouches costs more than this laminator.
The GBC Inspire 9 inch Laminator (1701855)
The GBC Inspire 9 inch Laminator is probably the smallest laminator I've ever seen. It does not look like it can do the job. However, it does. It is very easy to use and does not have any settings to think about. You place what you want to laminate inside a laminating pouch and insert into to the laminator. All it has is an on and off button. It takes laminating pouches that are up to 8 ½ inch by 14 inch (max thickness 5mm). It takes 7 minutes to warm up which is slightly more than the larger GBC laminators.
It takes about one minute to laminate a standard legal sized document (8 ½ inch by 11 inch), which is slightly slower than the bigger office size laminators but I do not believe the difference is big and good enough for home use. According to the specifications the GBC Inspire 9 inch Laminator can laminate 3 million legal sized document or 5 million 4X6 sized photographs. It comes with a 90 day warranty.
I should say that you can also buy laminating pouches which do not require a laminator. However, these pouches cost more and it is a little bit cumbersome to use them (takes longer). If you laminate more than a hundred items you've already saved by using this laminator instead.
Experiencing the GBC Inspire 9 inch Laminator (1701855)
One big advantage of the GBC Inspire 9 inch Laminator is that it is small and lightweight and easy to use. I can't test that I really can laminate millions of documents but we tried around a hundred so far. If it breaks I will update this review.
Some of our efforts did not turn out good. However, you need to let it warm up and right after it comes out you need lay down the result on a cool surface like a floor or a table. If you don't it may crease or may get bumps. Based on past experience I think that this laminator is a little bit more prone to laminate badly if you don't let it warm up as compared to the larger laminators. Also don't try to push or pull the pouch while you are laminating. If you need to cut the result with scissors afterwards wait until the pouch has cooled down. I suggest that you test laminate something before you try an important document.
However, overall this laminator is fast enough and good enough for home use. It is quiet, easy to move, and fits on any desk (like a large stapler). I can definitely recommend it.
Finally I would like to say thank you to Bob (pvreditor) for adding this item to the epinions data base.
