Pros: Easy to hook up to the TV.
Cons: I still feel it is a throwaway brand, but so far the new one works.
I bought this DVD player for my 14 yr old daughter as a Christmas gift.
She played it a few times, and not even a month later, it's not working. Every DVD that is put in the player comes up with "wrong disc" on the screen. After talking to a helpless tech support, I am told to ship this back to the company and after about 3 weeks I should have a replacement. This only has a 30 day warranty, I bought it on 12/1/09, so being that I bought it as a gift, and the gift was opened on 12/25/09 and by 1/27/10, it's useless, I am out of warranty. Now, the tech support claims that with the new unit, it has a 90 day warranty. Why does this not have a 90 day warranty to begin with??!!
I guess when you buy something for $20.00, it's not only not worth the $20.00, but it's only meant to be used a couple of times and thrown away. Why waste the money buying it to begin with? I may as well have thrown the $20.00 out the car window as I drove to the Family Dollar to buy it in the first place. I'm not sure I want to spend the money on shipping, and to just put it toward another brand DVD player.
By The Way, I went to the same Family Dollar to see if they had a different one, so I could exchange it. They had one, but it looked like it was a used one and was returned. Parts of the packaging was missing, and the wire ties were off the wires, etc. So, someone else apparently had the same problems. I pointed that package out to the store. They put it under the register area, but who knows if they put it back on the shelf after I left to another unsuspecting customer.
I bought a new one and returned the other one to the store.
The new one is working much better.
