bighead3's Full Review: GPX BCDW9815CNP Radio/CD Boombox
This product frustrates me. It's plagued with issues and it reminds me of a Windows PC that needs to be frequently rebooted or reinstalled. I can't believe such poor workmanship has arrived in a radio of all things. It was purchased at a Best Buy in Texas.
- Frequently, I'll switch the source to XM and it just says, "ANTENNA" and does nothing. It then refuses to actually start playing XM music until I turn it off and on again. But that doesn't happen every time. Sometimes when I switch it from FM/AM to XM, the station shows in the display but nothing comes over the speakers. I don't know which way I prefer better.
- Even though power is never removed, when I switch the source to XM, it doesn't remember what station I was on and I have to press and hold (or repeatedly press) the button to get me back to the station I left it on.
- I put it on top of my refrigerator and now because the LCD is designed to be looked DOWN on, I can't read the LCD until I manually tilt the radio forward, so I've just propped it forward with a dishrag.
- There's nowhere near enough information in the display. It requires way too much button pressing to toggle thru the name, artist or station of the song on XM.
- When I do "reboot" it, I have to sit through a commercial on the LCD before it starts. The commercial goes "G" "P" "X", then it finally starts to play station number one; ah, station number one. This would be less aggravating if I didn't have to reboot it daily.
And the worst part about this is that I can't return it since the return window is expired. I didn't realize what a piece it was until recently. $79 tax, down the drain.
