Pros:easy to use, announces street names
Cons:tinny voice, can't find some addresses
The Bottom Line: Recommended because of the great features at a great price.
I bought my husband the Garmin nuvi 650 for a Christmas gift. We had the Garmin nuvi 200 previously but he wanted one that had more features.
The nuvi 650 has street pronunciation (meaning the voice will announce the street names in addition to the driving directions. Example, instead of saying "Right turn ahead," it will say "Right turn on Elm Street ahead."). This is a feature the nuvi 200 did not have. It is very handy, especially when you don't know your way around and don't want to have to keep looking at the navigation screen to see what the next turn is.
You can find restaurants, points of interest, and other things on this GPS. Very nice to have when you are in a new area and looking for a place to eat!
Good battery life: about 3-4 hours without being charged.
The female voice that says the directions on the nuvi 650 is tinny and computerized. I preferred the female voice on the nuvi 200 we had before.
The nuvi 650 also has media capabilities (like mp3, pictures, etc) but we don't really use these features. We only use it for mapping.
The only problem I've found with this unit is its difficulty in finding some new neighborhoods. We live in an area with lots of new subdivisions, so the mapping software is not updated enough to locate these newer addresses.
