I KNEW there was something I was forgetting. Really I got quite an education the day I went to EMS. I found out that my feet pronate a little and that I have high arches which I didn't know. Apparently these are the reasons people either love or hate this boot and for me with these two issues (along with all the others) they are great. Hope that helps? Thanks for r/r and commenting. jo

About that support (Reply to this comment)
by Penguinlady
I find that as I get older, I need more and more arch support. My warm-weather footwear are all Romika, Mephisto, Birkies, and Naot. In the winter, I have a problem because I've never found a closed shoe that has that kind of contoured support. So I slip my Birkenstock insoles into whatever I'm wearing.

So I'm curious about these - you said "support," but it sounds as though you're talking about the steel shank rather than the insole - is that right?
