42ENGLISH's Full Review: Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo Normal Hair
Summer is here and its hell on your hair. I am a hair fanatic and am constantly buying different hair products. Some are successful, some are not. When I came across some Garnier Fructis products, I bought some shampoo and conditioner, Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo for normal hair, specifically. I had had a good experience with their anti frizz serum and was expecting the same from this product. My hair has been pretty limp lately. Sea water, pool water and heat from the hot sun have made it dull so I bought these fortifying products to bring the shine back out and put some life back into it.
This shampoo comes in a bright green, plastic, 13 fl oz bottle. The product itself is pearly white and creamy. Of course, the scent is a fruity, coconutty, lemon and lime. I personally like this scent as oppose to floral.
Garnier Fructis Claim:
The innovative combination of ingredients naturally present in fruit help give strength and shine to your hair: Fruit acids, Vitamins B3, B6, Fructose, Glucose.
For Hair That Shines With All Its Strength
The Garnier Fructis System of Fortifying Shampoo, Conditioner and Deep Conditioner with active fruit concentrate acts deep within and on the surface of your hair.
It nourishes the hair from root to tip.
It works inside the hair strand to strengthen it.
It smoothes the hair to the tip.
Proven Results
The Garnier Fructis System makes hair 5 times stronger and up to 5 times smoother for shinier hair. (In brushing/combing tests, compared to an ordinary shampoo.)
My Experience:
I always rinse my hair and apply shampoo as soon as I get in the shower so that I can leave the conditioner in for a while. I applied about a nickel size to my hair as I usually do. This was not enough to lather it substantially, so I had to add more. It felt nice and creamy in my hair but not very much lather. After rinsing, my hair didnt particularly feel any better than it did before. It certainly didnt feel smooth to the tip.
I didnt like the way this product left my hair. It felt somehow stripped so I definitely would not use it without conditioning afterwards. However, since I have been using it, I have noticed less hair in my brush after brushing and the shine has returned.
Conclusion:
I like Garnier Fructis products but the shampoos seem to lack lather and leave your hair feeling unclean even though it is clean. It does seem to strengthen the hair though and it did bring back the shine to my otherwise dull hair. I see ether and behenyl alcohol in the ingredients. Maybe these are culprits in the stripped feeling my hair has. They are pretty harsh.
I dont think I would recommend Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo for normal hair. It may strengthen the hair but it seems to take something natural out of the hair leaving it with a stripped feeling. I am not prepared to trade. I have used about half the bottle just to give it a fair chance but I am going to stop here and hope that Garnier can come up with a more quality shampoo.
