Gary Yamamoto revolutionized bass fishing with his Senko lure. The Senko takes very little talent and skill to master, making many fishermen not only better but winners at local tournaments. Yamamoto came out with a new lure, The Kreature. The Kreature is much more difficult to fish than the Senko which many fishermen just hook through the middle and let it sink.
It looks a lot like nothing else, it doesn't even resemble any living creature, let alone a specific bait or prey that a bass eats. However it resembles many baits that a bass preys on all rolled up into one lure.
It has arms similar to a salamander, a tail on each side like a grub, fins like a bait fish, and tentacles like a crawfish.
What is it?
Basically this lure looks like many other bass lures rolled into one. Some that come to mind are rubber grubs, Hawg Caller, Gitzit, Tube Bait, The Beaver, The Otter, and even a little bit like a Senko.
The rubber that it is made of is infused with loads of salt which help the fish hold on for that split second when the bass picks it up before the fisherman sets the hook.
They only come in one size which is 4 inches, and they come seven per pack for around $6.50, almost a buck a piece.
Techniques: You can fish this lure many ways. I have tried it several different ways. With almost all of the different styles and techniques I prefer using a 3/0 Gamakatsu hook. Carolina Rigged, which is Texas hooked with the weight about two feet higher up the line than the bait which keeps it suspended above the bottom. Texas Rigged, Which has the hook put through it on the top and bottom with the point buried in the soft rubber so it is virtually weedless. A lead bullet weight rests on the eyelet of the hook. Rigged this way I can swim the bait, bounce it and jig it off the bottom, flip it, and pitch it. Weightless Rigged, I use this style and technique when the fish are suspended at very high depths or the water is cold and I want a slow fall. This bait falls incredibly slow and you better have some patience to fish it this way. Rig it as a Jig Trailer. This is a very large jig trailer which has been proven to lure in those lunkers. I have hooked it both ways, forwards and backwards, not knowing which is which.
