My daughter, who is now an attorney, worked with the Corps of Engineers while studying. She used Gateway computers at the Corps and she loved them. After she graduated, we all bought Gateways and we have never been disappointed.
With technology changing so fast, Gateway has kept up with the changes and offers first-rate computers at competitive prices.
HP's were our first desktop computers and we had to replace them about every 2 years. My new Gateway has so much memory, I have tons of space left. I'm an artist, and I save anything that inspires me, and I use my computer nearly every day--I still haven't used all the memory.
The only complaint I have about Gateway is they used to be shipped, but now computer stores have Gateways and one can buy it off the shelf without paying for shipping. I've had to call for help once with our first Gateway and the technician I talked to was wonderful. I was not computer savy at the time and he talked my through a fix, which was my fault, not the computer's.
I find that the colors are brighter with the Gateway computers and monitors. Gateways are quality computers and are tough. I disagree with the person who said the company is run poorly. My husband and I have always had easy experiences with purchasing Gateways and having them shipped, or with buying one off the shelf.
Gateways will last until technology passes it up, and then one can buy a new one, or buy an upgrade. My son is a computer guru and he advises us about upgrades and such. He designs and repairs computers, although lately he changed jobs for better pay.
If you are considering a Gateway--go for it. You won't be disapointed.
