Tiger, Tiger Your Line Is Good, But Soon To Be Gone!!
Written: Jan 15, 2010
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Light, refreshing flavor, added benefits of theanine and more electrolytes
Cons:Soon to be pulled off shelves, Tiger's image isn't exactly good
The Bottom Line: A light, refreshing flavor of Gatorade. Get it while you can!
So its actually pretty unfortunate that Tiger had to go and get himself in trouble and get Gatorade to pull his line, although the company itself proclaims that they made this marketing decision a long time ago. You can actually go, "Yeah, right, that is this the spin they put onto the situation," but numbers don't lie and Tiger's line made up less than 5% of Gatorade's total volume so it actually is accurate why they squashed the line. Now, onto the actual product itself!
The Cool Fusion flavor comes in the 32 ounce bottle, which is a very nice size for a sport drink. I find that this size, out of all the ones available, is the best. Not too much and not too little. Even before the little incident, Gatorade had rebranded this flavor to be called Focus, because of the added ingredient of theanine is purported to make the mind and body be able to focus and reduce physical and mental stress. To be quite honest with you, I didn't have any effects, good or bad, from this added ingredient. I didn't feel any more focused during workouts, however, it's not like it takes a lot of mental acuity for that! I could see how theanine could help a golfer when he is concentrating on a major putt for a championship or something to that effect. But on regular old me, it had no added effect.
This formula is also purported to have 25% more electrolytes, which regulate many body functions, in it than the regular formula of Gatorade. It definitely did a great job of quenching my deep thirst after a hard basketball game and runs, which is the normal use of when I drink Gatorade. I can't tell the differentation between this and the regular "G" but it does re-fuel my body fast and effectively.
The taste is a light, crisp, clean flavor of lemon lime, with a bit of a sour ting. It's so very light that it washes down great with a perfect aftertaste that doesn't coat your throat. It reminds me of one of Gatorade's other lines, called Rain. Its flavor is not as heavy as some of the regular flavors of Gatorade. This is definitely one of my favorite flavors, too bad it's gonna go bye-bye soon. I am currently buying as many of these as I can in my local store before they are pulled off the shelves.
Oh, and if this kind of thing strikes you, it also has 50% less calories than a regular Gatorade as well. For me, I could care less about that, but for others, they do compare the sport drinks and the excess of potentially bad sugars and calories.
This is a great flavor so if you want to try a light, refreshing Gatorade, this is a good choice.
