I love my MK2, but I can't even afford ONE of them, much less a pair (the one I have was a gift).

I'm using a pair of Gemini XL-300s now (the alternative I recommended in the review). I got them for less than $100 each not too long ago, direct drive and came with slip mats and carts. You should check 'em out in the mean time ...

... I think I'll save my cash for a pair of Technics. Can't beat the wheels of steel.

You've tugged at an old passion of mine that I buried due to lack of funds. I've been considering picking up some Vestax decks, but again.. that money thing.
