| d12forlife's Full Review: General Electric 29878GE1 Digital Answering Machin... |
Well I was moving into my new apartment and I needed a answering machine so I decided to go with the model by GE. There really is not many features available for an answering machine, but this one has all the features I need.
Features
The GE answering machine comes equipped with an LED light that indicates when you have a message waiting. It also doubles as the power on light letting you know that your machine is on. This light is rather large and may be annoying to some. I know many people who have told me so.
Another feature I like is the time stamp. When there is a message waiting all you have to do is press play, and it will tell you the time and date of the message before playing it. This is a good feature if you are away from your phone for a few days so you are able to know exactly when the message is from.
I like this machine because it is digital versus the machines with tapes in them. I used to have a machine with a tape and I used to hate having to wait until the tape finishes rewinding. With this all you have to do is press a simple button and it will take you straight to your messages.
Another thing I like about this machine is that you are able to check your messages from any phone. You simply dial a number and a prompt will tell you to input your security code and you have access to your messages. This is good because you can control who has access to your messages.
The only complaint I would have on this machine is the audibility. On a few occasions I have had trouble understanding the messages people left. There is sometimes scratchyness in the background but nothing too bad.
It also comes with a back up battery which comes in handy. If there is no battery supply the machine will turn off and you lose your messages as well. I learned this the hard way but that is another story. All in all this is a decent answering machine and will more than likely satisfy you if you decide to purchase it.
