Pros: Works well! Easy to use and setup, too.
Cons: Not super sound quality; few features.
The Bottom Line: A super machine if you don't get lots of calls and want something easy to use and inexpensive.

If you get lots of messages, and like to listen to music through the answering machine, don't even bother reading this.
But if you just want a good, cheap machine, that gets messages and nothing more or less, this will work great for you!
This machine has served for almost a year now. It has the following features:
Voice Time/Day stamp
12 minutes of recording time
Remote access (get your messages from any phone)
Memo function
TollSaver (picks up on the 2nd ring if you have new messages, 5th if not. Lets you hang up on the 3rd ring if there are no messages to save on toll charges.)
Allow me to explain the Memo thing. You hold down the play button for more than two seconds, and can leave a message for a family member on the machine without calling from another phone. Nice when sticky notes and pencils aren't available.
The remote access not only gets your messages, but lets you turn the machine on or off, change the greeting, and delete messages over the phone. This is much better than my old machine, which just played messages. Fun to use with speakerphone to impress your friends. As this little machine isn't used all that much, I don't really care about the sound quality, but if you get lots of messages and subscribe to caller I.D., you will probably be better served buying a machine with caller I.D., better sound, and maybe even multiple mailboxes. However, it just answers my 2nd phone line, and I just use it with the "Thanks for calling Citizens for Making Telemarketing a Capital Crime" greeting to fend off telemarketers, mostly.
GE did a super job of making this machine easy to use. The manual is easy to read, and comprehensive, usually two incompatible objectives. However, this machine does have some downsides. The sound quality isn't super on this thing, but of course you get what you pay for. Features are spartan, and the freakish female voice is hard to understand sometimes. The lack of an announce-only mode is annoying if you're a semi-business (as I am) and don't want to let the telemarketers leave their recorded message on your machine. Also, the machine's highest ring to answer setting is 5 rings. My only phone jacks for this line are on the 2nd floor and in the basement, so if I'm on the 1st floor I sometimes miss calls. Of course, my little GE machine picks them up nicely.
The bottom line is, it's a neato little device that answers the phone when you're away, plays your voice, and then lets people leave a recording of their voice. Then, you can push a button, and hear that recording! And you don't have to sell your kindeys to buy it! In other words, it's just a basic, inexpensive machine - perfect for people on a budget or who just don't like lots of buttons.
