| pablothegreat's Full Review: General Kraft Food & Family Magazine |
Are you frugal? Do you know someone who is? Do you save packaging to re-use when you mail correspondance? Do you re-use aluminum foil? Wear your jeans twice before washing? Even go so far as one man I saw on tv and re-use paper towels? (He would rinse and dry them first.) This is the type of frugalness and being cheap that will not seem as extreme to you.... General Kraft Food & Family Magazine is FREE. Yep! No need to cut corners to be able to afford this magazine! It is a smaller magazine that comes seasonally so you will receive one for spring, summer, fall, and winter.
What do I love about this magazine?
Totally free. No gimmicks.
Coupons for foods that we eat and items we use. This issue we received a coupon for 55 cents off of Kraft mayonnaise and one FREE coupon for Kraft salad dressing up to $3.09. Kraft Ranch dressing here I come! Usually there are no coupons for free items so this was a little unusual this time.
Easy recipes that use the products that you have coupons for---the coupons are IN the magazine issue!
Recipes are easy to read even for non-readers and elderly persons. Pictures ouline each ingredient that you will need.
Even though recipes call for Kraft products, you can easily swap our your favorite mayo for the Kraft mayo listed in the recipe.
Games to play while you eat the snack you just prepared from a recipe contained within the magazine. Word puzzles and word scrambles.
Healthy snack recipes.
This issue has different ways to do a dog....fix up your hot dogs in different ways to get out of the same old rut of plain old hot dog on a bun.
Some issues are larger and longer around 62 pages in each than the one I have in my hands "Simple Shortcuts" which only has 32 pages in it.
Simple recipes using simple ingredients more than likely in your pantry already!
Fabulous pictures of the finished recipe/food so you see how it is supposed to look.
"What's new" section about the new Kraft products on the market such as Kraft Bagel-fuls that have the cream cheese inside of the bagel (oooh sounds yummy!) and new things that Kraft is doing to help the environment.
Nutrition information on the recipes is closer to the back of the magazine but is available on each.
Readers' ideas on quick meals are put in a section called "idea swap".
All recipes are available on the website if you misplace your issue.
Some of the recipes in this issue are "2-step strawberry shortcake, backyard burger, coleslaw toss, and frozen yogurt pie." Recipes from another issue include "cheesey manicotti, shipwreck dinner, tangy pork chop bake, warm winter lemon cake, and blissful brownies."
What I do not like about this magazine:
Smaller size at times makes it easier to misplace until the coupons are expired.
It is hard to recognize that it is a magazine with the other mail as the slick cover is so thin.
No multiple coupons, only one of each coupon.
Not enough coupons in each issue.
Smaller type in some places in the magazine make it difficult to read.
Advertisements for higher priced brand name meal kits.
Fatty cookies and cakes pictured will make you crave the bad stuff.
Does not come more often.
My Final Thought: Really there is no downside here. Unless you are against magazine subscriptions that are totally free. You too can receive this great magazine with quick seasonal meal recipes for your family and coupons in each issue by going to www.kraftfoods.com and signing up. You won't regret it! Just don't throw it out thinking it is junk mail!
What is so good about THIS item?
No cost, totally free, coupons, great quick recipes for seasonal meals
What is unique about this item?
Free.
Is it worth the price?
NO COST at all!
There has to be some bad to this item, right?
Does not come more often, fatty food pictures and ads will have you craving junk, looks like junk mail to me!
Any warnings people should be aware of?
Be careful not to throw it out thinking it is junk mail.
