DIFFICULT TO CANCEL PLAN, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Pros: I have nothing good to say about this company or their service.
Cons: Poor inefficient, incompetent customer service. Restrictive cancellation policies.
The Bottom Line: This was an inexpensive way to get a cellphone, limited calling area, good for emergencies only. Took over a week, multiple calls and faxes to cancel plan. Terrible customer service.

I have a US Cellular phone plan through my work and wanted to cancel the plan. I contacted US Cellular and was told that I couldn't cancel the plan, even though my name is on it and I pay the bill directly, since the original plan was made with my company. They wanted a fax on company letterhead containing the company tax ID and my phone #. The first fax # they gave me didn't work. They gave me a second fax #, this one at least worked. The requested information was faxed by my human resources department to US Cellular. I contacted them several days later to confirm cancellation of the plan. They had lost the fax and had no record of the request. I had HR fax the information again and contacted them less than an hour later to confirm receipt of the fax. They lost the second fax. (Both times HR had fax confirmation that the fax had worked, so it was lost on their end.) HR then faxed a third time while keeping them on the phone to confirm actual receipt of the fax. This one they managed to hang on to. I was then informed that this wasn't enough, the cancellation request could only come from the person authorized on the account and they wouldn't say who that person was. The head of our
HR was the authorized person, this information was on my copy of the contract, and they faxed the request again. Once again I called to confirm actual receipt of the fax. US Cellular would not give me this information. I was told that only the authorized person could have this information and they would not tell me who that was. I requested that US Cellular contact this person and confirm cancellation of my plan. I am still waiting for confirmation of cancellation. So far this has taken me over a week with no results. Good luck to anybody trying to cancel service with these people. I will NEVER do business with US Cellular again.
