Pros: Well-constructed doll with fun accessories.
Cons: Her legs barely bend and small accessories could choke young children in house.
The Bottom Line: The Generation Dolls are a great way to match a product specifically to a child. I recommend them, and wish we had more in our house.

| IrishMa4's Full Review: Generation Girl - Lara |
The Generation Girls dolls were on both of my older daughters gift wish lists this past Christmas. I was hesitant to buy them because of the price ($18.99). Upon closer inspection of them and all that they came with, the price is a bit easier to take.
Generation girl Lara (from here on out referred to as just Lara) was under the tree with 8 year old Caitlin's name on her.
Lara Morelli-Strauss was born in Paris France. She's an artist; the clipboard, sketch pads and frames she comes with prove this. This being true, it's no wonder that her favorite place to hang out with friends is the Metropolitan Museum of Art. If Lara were to pick one word to describe her self it would be creative. This matches her career goal to be an artist.
Lara enjoys chilling with friends, while she sketches them, eating cheesecake, and listening to pop rock music.
Quite the beauty Lara is with her long butt-length brown hair with two small braids framing either side of her face, secured with beaded ties. Her hair length and wispy braids (as well as color) match Caitlin's to a "T".
Gray eyes are visible underneath a good amount of make-up. In case some should wear off, there is a bottle, a brush included in the box with her. My daughter was disappointed that these were just pretend.
This dolls arms and head swivel every which way. Her arms are jointed at the elbow, allowing for further manipulation by your child. And we all know how children enjoy manipulating things/people! Her knees are pretty stiff and unbending. She sits up nicely on a flat surface.
Lara comes dressed in a green and purple paisley print ankle length skirt, a purple net top over a white bandeau bra, a fringed purple purse, and purple and yellow wedge shoes. Net elbow-length gloves, which start at the wrist and go to the elbow, adorn either arm.
It's a good thing she comes with a green and pink jewelry box to hold the multitude of jewels she's wearing: blue white and purple beaded bracelet, green bangle bracelet, purple ribbon necklace with a gold bangle.
Artistic atmosphere is achieved with two doll sized purple candles (heart and butterfly), and a paisley print pillow trimmed with gold lame.
In case a change of clothing is needed before you are able to get to the store, she also comes with a white Indian style knee-length dress with purple and teal stitched on accents. A stand is included for display wearing either outfit.
I think the thing Caitlin has gotten the most enjoyment from so far is the Chapter book about Generation Girls that came with the doll. Caitlin reads as many books as she can get her hands on.
This doll has held up quite well, and no heads have popped off. Amazingly enough both she and the doll Ellen got still have their long hair, and that's almost unheard of in the hands of my scissor-weilding daughters. Lara's hair is a bit snarly now, as it's very long and she's been swimming a time or two.
I asked Caitlin why she liked her Generation Girl Lara so much. Here are her reasons:
* She likes art like me.
* She comes with make-up.
* She likes dresses like me.
* She's pretty.
Although I was a bit put off by the high price for this doll, in the end I'm glad I paid it. The message she sends by having goals and enjoying what I consider to be safe things, as well as all that you get with this doll make her money well spent. I have no complaints about Lara, and neither does Caitlin.
