| Rosethyme's Full Review: Genisoy Original Genisoy Shakes |
I have always been health-conscious--not a fanatic but a realist.
I am a technically educated female in my late 40s, and I am aware that my physiology is changing, and that the next few years can be somewhat of a roller coaster ride if I am not careful. So I watch what I eat and I exercise to minimize the effects of aging. I do both aerobic and weight exercises.
As a older woman who exercises, I need a certain amount of protein. I have never been a heavy meat eater, so I have tried several different types of Soy protein powders. Not all protein powders are alike, and everyone’s taste is individual.
I have tried some of the whey proteins and just could not adjust to the taste. I tried them in milk mixed with vanilla or chocolate (how can anything chocolate taste bad?). These were awful.
I finally tried the Genisoy original formula about 2 years ago. I tried it without any flavoring and it was not bad. I mixed it with a tablespoon or two of chocolate syrup and it was good! I then tried it with a teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of sugar. WOW, it was delicious. (If you do not like lumps always mix this in a blender.) I tried their flavored mixes, both the chocolate and the vanilla, and they were tasty as well.
I then checked out the ingredients listed on the package. The plain has 25 grams of soy protein, while the flavored ones have only 14 grams. A woman needs a minimum of 40 grams a day.
I use only the plain. How difficult is it to add a tablespoon of flavoring to the blender? This way I get the higher level of protein with a minimal increase in calories.
In my blender I mix one heaping scoop of the Genisoy powder with 12 oz of organic milk, 1 teaspoon of organic vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of organic sugar. I add 8 oz of chilled water or 5 ice cubes, then blend. I get a refreshing, delicious, nutritious, protein-packed (36 grams), light meal.
This is just about all the protein you need for the day. When I work out I target 55 grams of protein. On days I don’t work out, 40 grams. Plus, I’ve also gotten the added benefit of the soy components, the isoflavones an older woman needs.
I have this for breakfast. I am not weighed down by a heavy meal, and I have all the energy I need for the day. If you like you can whip some strawberries or a banana into the mix instead of the chocolate, and get some of your fruit for the day.
I feel the difference when I get the right amount of the protein I need. Everything must be balanced: too much or too little of anything is not good.
Genisoy is inexpensive, easy to use, easy to store, tastes good, has a high level of protein. It contains natural isoflavones, is not genetically modified, and is a vegetable source of protein--a complete protein with no harmful side effects. It is available at most stores.
I do not like all soy products, but I like this one. It works for me.
