| ziprz's Full Review: Genny Light Beer |
"GL" and I go way back. This was the "Beer of Choice" for many of us whoopin' it up in those good old college days. That should tell it all about this beer too. As soon as you lose your college hunger for all that is cheap and light (can't fill yourself up ya know), you should lose the urge to drink this beer.
My description of the flavor of this beer is the opposite of smooth. It is the Light Beer that Bites you back, unless it is ice cold. I'm not a beer expert, but there is some element of the beer that keeps Genny Light from being smooth going down. My favorites in the Light Beer category tend more toward Michelob Light, Coors Light, or Labatt Blue Light, all of which go down very smoothly, but are not heavy like an amber beer.
Genesee is a Northeastern Beer that is still brewed right here in Rochester New York. Genesee was just bought out by a larger brewery (the name slips my mind), so I've got to wonder if they are going to leave the formula intact forever. This beer is very easy to find in New York State. I'm not sure in what other locales you can find it. It is also a very inexpensive beer. A six pack usually goes for about $3.
So, take my advice and drink another beer from the Gensee Brewing Company; one that has more redeeming characteristics. Honey Brown, or Michael Shea's comes to mind.
