| satie37's Full Review: Gerber Childrenswear Ez Liner Diaper Liners |
I have 5 children and have ALWAYS used cloth diapers but probably would have switched to disposable if it weren't for disposable diaper liners. If you are not familiar with this product the diaper liner is a soft biodegradable material. It lies on top of the diaper next to baby's skin. It lets wet through to the diaper while keeping baby dry. If baby has a poop then the poop stays IN the liner and does not soil the diaper. The liner is then flushed down the toilet along with the poop. Liners which are only wet can be put into the diaper pail along with the diaper and washed and re-used. Disposable diaper liners are friendly on the environment AND friendly on YOU as they eliminate that nasty job of cleaning poopy diapers.
Gerber has got the disposable diaper liner down to a fine art. If you sew at all, these liners are like fine interfacing and make from a soft woven paper fabric. They are very soft and thin BUT are also strong and won't fall apart. This is important when emptying poop into the toilet. The fact that they are thin also means they do not clog up your toilet. I have been using these liners for years and have never had a clogged toilet yet!
The softness is great against baby's skin. Some of my diapers are not that soft, but using the liner means that this is not that much of a concern as the diaper is never against my little one's skin. They also keep my baby drier than just using the diaper alone.
One of the points of using disposable liners is eliminating diaper cleaning. So, one of the things you want in a diaper liner is coverage! The Gerber liners are very wide and also long so they cover the complete diaper. They work with all types of diapers, fold-your-own, prefolds, and fitted. I have used all types of diapers and never had a problem with coverage. The liners are prefolded and can be kept folded or unfolded to fit the type of diaper you use.
These liners can also be washed... even though that is not one of the advertised 'features'. I find that the liners wash well with minimal shrinkage for about 2 - 3 washings. So, a single box of about 120 liners will give you roughly about 240-350 liner uses. This makes them very economical.
Finally, the liners come packaged in a box a bit larger than a large tissue box. The liners are folded loosely in the box and are easy to take out if you put them into the diaper during diaper change. Personally, I fold my diapers after washing and put the liner in at that time.
This product is simply GREAT and if you use cloth diapers one try of these liners will make you wonder why you never used them before!
