| Mom2Abbi's Full Review: Gerber Graduates Baby Food |
Gerber has always been a trusted name in our home. Although they didn't have the graduate line 13 years ago when I had my first child, I always had piece of mind in using Gerber baby foods, cereals and juices. I am going to try to combine the Gerber Graduate line in a compact review, using as many of them as I can without writing a terribly long boring opinion.
SNACK ATTACKS
Gerber has developed a great line of cookies and crackers for little ones. The cereal snackn' squares are soft and just the right size for toddlers to pick up. The fruit and cereal bars make perfect snacks, even with the crumbs and come in strawberry banana and apple cinnamon. I absolutely LOVE the veggie crackers, and so does my daughter. They are hexagon shaped and made with real vegetables. The arrowroot cookies are one of my favorite. These remind me of a flower shape, and have a hole in the center. These are very easy for toddlers to handle and eat on their own. The pretzels had me concerned at first, but after trying them I found them to be a special texture that made it really easy for my daughter to swallow. The final snack type product I have tried is the fruit juice snacks. They were very soft and seemed to taste ok but my daughter wanted to eat the entire thing in one bite. Until your baby knows to chew their food, I wouldn't recommend this one.
THE MAIN COURSE
I fell instantly in love with the Gerber Graduates diced fruits and vegetables. About a week later, I fell out of love with the prices. They are great pre-cut vegetables and fruits that are just the right size for little fingers to pick up. I found that with a little extra time, I could cut my own fresh vegetables and fruits for about half the price. I have been inquiring about pesticide use but have no details yet regarding that. From apples to peas, my daughter didnt find a fruit or vegetable from the Gerber line that she did not like. The meat sticks have been a WONDERFUL addition to the menu at home. They are the perfect texture and pose no choking hazard. They are full of vitamins and minerals and worth the extra expense. The microwave dinners are quick and easy and make a hectic day less stressful. I have concerns with using the microwave for anything that goes in my baby's mouth. Use these dinners with caution and be sure to check the temperature of the meal before handing it to your child.
HAVE A DRINK ON ME
I have used Gerber juices for all of my children, spanning back over a decade. From apple juice to mixed fruit, I have been very happy with the use of 100% juice and calcium. No sugars or preservatives and they are easy to digest. I only used juice in a cup because of proven tooth decay from bottle use. My favorite addition to the Gerber line is the Juice Smoothies. In our area, they are available in wild berry and orchard fruit. My daughter absolutely loves these! Because they are only available here in the large 16oz bottle, I sometimes found that I was throwing away unused product. These actually don't taste bad and they are a nice change from regular juice.
FINISHING LINE
Gerber graduates boxes all have feeding guidelines. The packages describe the stage at which your child is ready for each product. The gerber 800 line is listed on every item for questions, and I have found it very useful. The products range from 79 cents to three dollars and all are designed specifically for toddlers. I know there are other products in the Gerber Graduate line, but I am only writing on the products I have used. Although the products are made to be handled by the babies alone, adult supervision is always necessary.
