When it came time for baby number two, I knew I would have issues with bedding with two using the same size sheets if I didn't get some new sheets. Thankfully we were gifted with two packages of Gerber Knit Crib Sheets one in white and one in sage (or green). We had several other sheets, which I had thought were Gerber brand, but I must have been wrong as these are noticeably superior to the ones we already had.
The Feel:
The first thing I notice is the Gerber Crib Sheets are sooooo very soft. They consist of 100% woven cotton and are as soft a jersey T-Shirt. My little guy doesn't show a preference but I feel better knowing how soft these sheets are.
The Fit:
Like all crib sheets, the Gerber Woven crib sheets are a fitted sheet, sized just right for a crib mattress. The Gerber Crib sheets though are designed with extra deep corner pockets and extra strong elastic. This really helps create a tight fit so as not to worry about having any excess bedding around baby. Since we have a fairly thick crib mattress, the deeper pockets help as I know the sheet isn't going to come off while baby is sleeping. The elastic also helps with that too. This “feature” is probably the one thing that makes these sheets difficult though. Getting them on is similar to my other sheets... but getting them off, well that's another story. I really have to tug on the sheet to get it off. This isn't a good thing in the middle of the night with a sick baby. And like all fitted sheets they are a bear to fold.
The Durability:
After years of use, I would say our Gerber Crib Sheets have held up very well. There are no signs of wear or shrinking at all and they are just as soft as when I pulled them out of the package. There are some stains on them now, but that's really my lack of stain removal.
The Style:
Gerber Woven Crib Sheets are plain in a variety of colors as long as the color you want is either white or pastel. With the décor of Squirt's room this really isn't a big deal as the colors coordinate with the paint. The white works well in either room of course.
Even though fighting with sheets at 3:00 AM is no fun, I still recommend Gerber Woven/Knit Crib Sheets. In comparison to other brands offering a softer jersey/knit crib sheet Gerber has the best value as well.
