With my first child I was really uncertain about whether or not to let him have a pacifier.But after a few days I was quite certain that he did need one!!!
The Nuk was my first choice because it came in a small size and the nipple was soft,and it was also the cheapest one.After using the Nuk for a while I realized the vast array of colors it came in were also a plus.Since the pacifier was in his mouth 50% of the time,why not have one that color -coordinated with his outfits. He used a "foo-foo" until he was almost three,and the Nuk was the only pacifier that had a big enough size so he wouldn't suck the whole thing into his mouth:)
My second child used a pacifier too,and the Nuks pleased him for some time.Eventually the nipple frustrated him because he sucked so hard it would become deflated,even though it was brand new.We ended up switching to a different brand of pacifier for him,so he could have a harder nipple.
