NUK was the first pacifier that my son ever used. We were given an almond colored one in the hospital when he was born. I am so glad they did.
Being a first time mom, I will admit that there were times that I was "clueless". If my son cried I asked myself the following questions. Is he hungry? Does his diaper need changing? Is he sick? After answering all those questions with no avail, he was given the NUK pacifier. Well.....I HAD to get more....one in the house wasn't going to cut it.
After a week of being home with our new baby, I ventured out for pacifiers. I was given some at my baby shower, but my son didn't like them. I was amazed at the selection of pacifiers GERBER had. It was easy to pick out a few cute designs.
As my son grew older we graduated to a larger size bulb. My son seemed very happy with this item, *until* one day he put the entire pacifier in his mouth. I freaked out. I was concerned that he could swallow it. I immediately called GERBER'S toll free number and told them of my fears. The customer service was wonderful. The customer service representative first asked if my son was "OK". That made me feel better already. After talking with her for a few minutes, she put me on hold and told me that she needed to talk to her supervisor. After a minute or so she was back on the phone with me. She told me that my child couldn't swallow the pacifier but it could get stuck in his mouth. She asked if I wouldn't mind sending the item to the company so they could do some testing on it. In return GERBER sent me coupons to purchase any item I wished. They paid for the shipping charges as well.
As far as recommending this item to friends.....I would have to explain our situation to them and let them decide. The NUK was our preferred brand when my son was very young, but as he got older, and got a bigger mouth (LOL) we had to change brands with a larger shield.
