Pros: small tip, tip removes for cleaning, angled tip helps make insertion easy
Cons: no problem with the aspirator but a squirming infant is difficult to hold still
The Bottom Line: The Gerber Nasal Aspirator is easy to handle, easy to use and makes this not so great job go faster and smoother.

Okay so my title is not gentle and attractive. But it does tell you what this product is made to do..........suck snot. I guess nasal aspirator is better sounding but who the heck says "I have to aspirate some nasal congestion from my infant"?
Both my children had allergies and nasal congestion from the day they were born. They had a difficult time breathing through their noses and as my pediatrician told me, infants don't know how to properly breathe through their mouths so when their noses are clogged they can't breathe right.
I purchased the Safety First Nasal Aspirator when my now 10 year old son was born. I tried to use it but the bulb was hard to hold properly. I couldn't get the bulb to create suction. The tip was huge on the Safety First Aspirator! I couldn't get it in my son's nostril to get to the mucous.......that was suppossed to be the whole object.
Off to the pharmacy to get a new Nasal Aspirator. The nice pharmacist at CVS recommended the Gerber brand Nasal Aspirator. Smart man!
Why do I like the Gerber Nasal Aspirator??
1- small tip that can be inserted into the nostril to get at the mucous.
2- angled tip makes handling a small infant or child and trying to get at the nose easier
3-tip is removable for cleaning and disinfecting
4-bulb fits nicely into an adult hand
If you must aspirate your child's nasal passages, which isn't a pleasant experience for parent or child in the first place, why not make it easier on both of you and use the correct and best supplies.
This is my tried and true method of nasal aspiration:
1- lay child on his or her back on a soft area such as a bed
2- warm tip of aspirator in your hand
3-squeeze bulb before insertion
4- gently insert aspirator into nostril 1/8-1/4 inch depending on age and size of child
4- release bulb with one quick motion and at the same time pull the tip out of the nostril
This method has worked for 10 years on 2 children! The cost was only $4.99 back in 1992 and I checked at the pharmacy a few days ago and the price has remained the same!
The Gerber Nasal Aspirator was made with parents and children in mind. Comfort and practicality all working together.
