I have been reading Get Dressed With Elmo to my sons for about 2 years now. We received the book as a gift when our 3 year old was age 1. We also have a 15 month old, who really is starting to enjoy the book. Often, he will select this book to start with.
About the book material
The book is made a foam padding covered by cloth. Each page has an attached object for the child to operate and encourage motor skills. For example, the zipper on page 1 can be used to introduce the concept of up / down and also teach their fingers how to work a zipper. The book also has a clasp that holds the book closed and that doubles as Elmos bow tie on the front page.
Interaction
The book offers the child a lot of colors and interesting objects to allow for interactive fun with your child. For example, page 7 has a character with a sneaker that can be un-Velcroed and Velcroed closed again. My kids favorite is Bert who has the option to buckle and unbuckle his belt. For each page, the parents reads instructions, for example, Buckle Berts belt and the provides congratulations by reading Super!
Characters that you know
As the title suggests, the book features Sesame characters that your child may already know: Elmo, Bert, Herry Monster, Telly, Prairie Dawn, and Betty Lou. The last page has a rollout that has all the characters dressed and ready!
