| yakkowarner's Full Review: Gevalia Kaffe Maragogype |
I bought this from Gevalia.com in a new program where I get 2 pound of coffee 5 times a year. I also got a few gifts. So far I am pleased with the coffee. I started with 6 scoops of coffee. I put it in my electric round grinder and ground it to a medium consistency. Then I put it in my French press and leave it for 4 minutes before plunging. I use bottled water because my tap water is highly chlorinated. The box describes this as “Through the years Maragogype coffee lovers from Sweden and all over Europe have prided themselves in selecting rare coffees for special occasions. A true trophy among these coffees is Maragogype Arabica from Central America. Maragogype green beans are characterized by their giant size withch seem to give an extra touch of flavor with a dry and subtle bouquet and snappy acidity. In the search for the world's most distinctive Maragogype beans, our Master Taster has chosen an incredible “altura supreior” from famous coffee estates in Mexico. Aroma This is a mild brightness and mild sweetness. And a barely noticable hint of pepper. Taste There is a perfect balance of acid (brightness). A barely noticable taste of sweetness. And a mild taste of “coffee”. Aftertaste Aftertaste is lovely. It fills my mouth with brightness and warmth. There is also a little nutty taste to it but is over powered by the brightness. There is also that very mild taste of “coffee” you expect from your beans. Summary According to my scale this get a high 3. That is average in my book but for the average drinker this coffee would be a 4 or a 5 depending on your preferences. Like several coffee's from Gevalia, there is nothing wrong with this coffee. I will gladly buy it again. But it lacks uniqueness. It is this uniqueness that has sent me on my quest to review coffee's and this one just didn't do it for me. But if you have the money, love coffee, then this would be a fine coffee to purchase through the Limited Edition collection. © Common Loon Productions Thanks to Bruguru for adding a lot of these coffee's to the database for me.
