ifif1938's Full Review: Ghirardelli Squares 60% Cacao Dark Chocolate, 5.25...
Ahh, sweet Valentines Day, A Day of Love, A Day of Romance, a Day of Chocolate. For some folks though, Valentines Day is just another day, but wait, it can still be a day of Chocolate.
An anonymous quote I found today says it all for chocoholics;
"There are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate and chocolate truffles."
For my hubby there is one food group, Dark Chocolate! So when I want to celebrate Valentines with a little present for him I put together a little gift bag and fill it with a few of his favorites chocolate treats which always includes a bag of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Squares, with 60% Cacao.
A little History: Cacao means food of the Gods, so called due to the goodness of its seeds. In Mexico the natives called the pounded seeds Chocolate. These valuable beans grow inside of large pods that sprout from the trunk of large trees, then Cocoa is formulated from those Cacao seeds. Voila, we then have our precious chocolate.
Hubby just loves these intense, slow-melting, luxurious and deep flavors...so smooth and rich as he savors the flavor of the perfectly balanced blend of the Cacao chocolate bean with the other ingredients Ghirardelli masterfully mixes together to provide the indulgent creamy chocolate they are so famous for.
Each little square is about 2 inches by 2 inches, just the perfect size to pop into your mouth while slowly letting the creamy texture melt its way around your mouth and down your throat.
Forest Gump once said: "Life is like a box of chocolates..... you never know what you're gonna get."
But that's not really true with Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Squares. When you open a bag of these chocolates you know what you are getting and best of all, it's always good!
Each bag contains 14 pieces wrapped individually, so every piece is always fresh as it was straight out of the factory.
The not so good news is that there are 220 calories in 4 pieces with 17 grams of fat and 23 grams of carbohydrates. But wait, you aren't supposed to think of such things on Valentines Day! But, if you do, then one or two pieces can be more then satisfying and as much a pleasure to indulge in.
Chocolate can be addicting though.
Matt Lauer said on the Today Show once: "Researchers have discovered that chocolate produced some of the same reactions in the brain as marijuana. The researchers also discovered other similarities between the two, but can't remember what they are."
I actually thought that a cute quote.;)
But, whatever the occasion, remember Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Squares, you can't go wrong gifting a bag of these for any connoisseur of the rich, deep dark taste of this delicious, decadent chocolate.
Happy Valentines Day To my hubby and to one and all
